The thrilling India-England Test series is currently underway, but the anticipation for the T20 World Cup 2026 is already heating up. Scheduled to take place eight months from now, the tournament will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, featuring a total of 20 participating teams. So far, 13 teams have successfully qualified for the World Cup, with Canada making its debut after winning the Americas Regional Final.
As hosts, India and Sri Lanka have automatically secured their spots in the tournament. The top eight teams from the 2024 T20 World Cup have also earned direct entry into the 2026 edition. Last season, besides India, teams like Australia, England, the USA, Afghanistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and South Africa reached the Super-8 stage. The next three teams in the rankings will also qualify for the World Cup.
The remaining eight teams will qualify through regional qualifiers. Based on these qualifiers, two teams from Africa, three from Asia and the East Asia-Pacific region, two from Europe, and one from the Americas will secure their spots.

India, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, West Indies, Afghanistan, USA, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Canada.
